Fly-tipping – an ever increasing problem
Hampshire County Council have cut local recycling centres opening hours, increased charges and added new restrictions for DIY and building waste. Now local residents are complaining that fly-tipping is increasing.
We warned the County Council that their changes would lead to more problems like this, but even we were shocked to read that a lane in the Forest was temporary closed after dumped waste blocked it completely.
We urge the council to restore centre opening hours and reverse charges for DIY waste, because all the charges are just leading to more fly-tipping that is very expensive to clean up. Waste is better taken to these centres, not dumped in hedges.
