A message of thanks from Jo
What an incredible few weeks this has been. I want to thank everyone who voted for me, and voted Labour, yesterday. We may not have won in New Forest West, but we took 20% of the vote and came a brilliant second, on a turnout of over 70%. With almost double our 2015 vote, this was the best result Labour has had in this constituency.
I had so many good wishes from people: from the messages on Facebook, to the “counter” last night who came up to say she’d voted for me, to the couple who posted a note through my door this morning to thank me for standing. We have given people hope for a better society and a glimpse of a possible future, so thank you to everyone who came out and volunteered as part of this campaign.
The policies we were fighting for still need our support. In the uncertain times that are coming, we need to keep our belief that we have a blueprint for change, for a fairer way of living together. And we need to be ready for the next opportunity to take those policies back to people and ask for even more support. Meanwhile, if you’ve been part of this amazing journey but are not part of our amazing movement: please consider joining the Labour Party to help us get a Labour Government that can deliver this manifesto for the many, not the few.
