Lymington comes together to stand up for affordable housing

Last Saturday (18 September), local Labour Party members gathered more than 200 additional signatures for their petition, ‘Lymington needs affordable homes for young people to rent or buy rather than more retirement flats‘.

New Forest West Labour Party secretary Jennie Worsdale launched the petition, which now has more than 1400 signatures, including more than 600 online. You can sign the petition here before it has to be submitted on Tuesday 21 September.

Lymington and Pennington Town Council are holding an Extraordinary Planning Meeting at 6pm tonight (Monday 20 September) to discuss the demolition of the former police station on Southampton Road and plans to replace it with 32 retirement flats. Jennie will be speaking against the plans, with the support of the petition behind her.

You can read the plans here. If you would like to attend the Zoom meeting, please email secretary@newforestwestlabour.org.uk in advance.
