The will of the people – except when it’s ASLEF

Our local party chairman Brian Curwain writes to the Guardian urging the government and Southern railway to accept the democratic legitimacy of the vote and settle the dispute:-

So, Southern rail drivers have voted 54% to 46% to reject the Aslef-negotiated deal and plan more strikes. No doubt the company and the government will want to respect “the wishes of the people” and will soon settle matters.
