Several of our local members attended the Labour Party conference in Brighton over the last week. Conference is where the membership of the party get to set the direction of the party. New Forest West sends a delegate who takes part in debates on the local party’s behalf, and votes on any motion requiring a vote. Other members can attend to take part in the conference “fringe” (rallies, policy debates, training, exhibition, etc.) and be a spectator to the conference, without actually taking part in party democracy. This year, women’s officer Jennie Worsdale was our delegate, and press and social media officer John Haywood also attended and provided a Facebook commentary for members who could not be at Brighton.
We’ll post an abridged version of Jennie’s report after she has delivered it to our members.
